Telecomm’s profile changes

Telecomm is looking to launch its own debit card and mobile application for transactions before the end of its six-year term.
Telecommunications of Mexico (Telecomm) stopped providing communications services.

Now, the decentralized public body mainly handles financial transactions for the unbanked.

In each of the more than 3,000

windows through which they serve users, Telecomm offers reception of international remittances, through wire transfers, Western Union, Giro Paisano and Red Alterna.

In order to reach a larger segment of the population, the institution is seeking to launch its own debit card and mobile application for banking transactions before the end of the six-year term.

Telecomm has been offering its banking correspondent service for several years, which was expanded last November to include 11 financial institutions.

Among the services offered are:

Deposits to checking accounts, concentration accounts, debit cards.
Credit card payments, services, withdrawals, balance and transaction inquiries.
Opening accounts and replacing cards.
In May of last year, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that Telecomm’s 1,700 branches would become Financiera para el Bienestar (Financial Institution for Welfare).

CFE Telecom would concentrate communications
With the aim of concentrating telecommunications services in CFE Telecom and Internet for All.

technologies in the last two decades changed the forms of communication, Telecomm still had telecommunications services.

Its previous focus was on comprehensive telecommunications and basic financial services, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable social groups, Telecomm says on its website.
