What my 10 lifeless posts with the fewest views and retweets have in common

I like statistics. Since the introduction of Google Analytics’ real-time visits, I no longer need to watch TV. There’s something addictive about them. If you now think I’m a geek, you’re probably right. Having a keen interest in your blog’s statistics also has its advantages because it helps you learn.

Blog and articles without readers

It’s good to know which are the best posts, but more information is obtained from all those that have been a total failure. I share with you my recent conclusions about those “zombie” posts that have long since run out of life.

1. Many are from the beginning: the best post in the world can end up running out of readers if it’s a recent blog. In your beginnings you have few readers, so a high coverage is less likely than when I’m in a more advanced phase. If you’re just starting out and are barely getting attention, you shouldn’t worry because it’s totally normal.

2. Some are outside the main themes of the blog: approximately 50% of the visits to this blog are recurring. I write generally about algeria phone number library online advertising, blogging and entrepreneurs. If I go beyond that it is difficult for the post to be well received as it does not fit the preferences of my loyal readers.

They have between 300-500 words

I have gone from writing short posts to entries that often exceed 1,000 words. Short articles have their advantages to capture the all the pictures show food in a way that looks delicious attention of visitors who come to the blog for the first time. Over time you have more readers who already know more or less what to expect. Nowadays, posts with greater density tend to be more successful.

4. Poor writing and style: the other day I was reading an old entry. To be honest, the “German” style of my beginnings is very noticeable. I still have difficulties with spelling and grammar as I never learned to write Spanish correctly. With the practice of publishing a post every day, I think things are improving little by little.

5. They don’t engage with a good asb directory introduction: when I’m not in the right shape to. A write a post, it’s obvious that I don’t put enough effort into writing a good introduction. Sometimes I don’t go beyond the “blah blah” level to get to the main part of the content as quickly as possible. The price is paid later in a much smaller distribution than it could be if I put more care into the first paragraphs.

They are aimed at an expert audience

when I started with this blog I was afraid of writing about common sense topics. Apart from the fact that this doesn’t exist, the majority of people who are interested in any topic are at a beginner level. If you target an expert audience by creating very well-crafted posts, you won’t have the desired success since a large part of your readers won’t be able to follow you and may even feel offended.

To prevent a user from slipping away, using a photo (in this post I used an image from Fotolia) that catches their attention is a key factor. We only have a few moments when a new visitor arrives at the blog and we have to take advantage of it in the best way possible.
