Nothing is worse than starting a project with false expectations. It’s been over 7 years since I wrote the first lines on a marathon blog in German. I’ve participated in many of them from the beginning to the end. Most of these blogs are no longer online. The truth is that 95% of the blogs that are started are abandoned after 1 year.
Blogging for beginners
1. You will be very much alone for 1 year: a new blog hardly gets any visitors at the beginning. Your posts will have very few readers for a long time. Even if these posts don’t get any traffic at the beginning, you can always make money from them if you create content with no expiration date.
2. You won’t be able to make a living from it: there is no exact figure, but I would say that in Spain we probably have between 100-500 people who can make a good living from blogging. Making money with a blog as a beginner is difficult. Few succeed because they underestimate the effort it requires.
3. SEO does not generate new readers: sooner or later you will read in some forum or blog that to be successful you have to do SEO. Positioning your website in search engines does not get you new readers, what it brings are visits. If you austria phone number library only think about machines and do not create content for people you will not get anywhere.
You have to publish 2 or 3 times a week:
having a blog is work. Publishing a post every 2 months is not worth it. If you start, do it well or leave it. Without a constant publication anticipatory design: one step ahead of the user it is impossible to build loyalty with your audience. In this blog, entries are published every day.
5. 70% of blogs run the risk of being sued: things as basic as a legal notice are missing in most blogs. It is true that as long as there is no related asb directory commercial objective, it is not necessary. Keep in mind that including advertising on the blog already meets the aforementioned criterion. At some point, perhaps you get paid money and it is related to your blogging activity. I wouldn’t risk paying a fine for not including a disclaimer.
6. You’re going to get slammed: I had this happen recently. The post was risky and I knew that not everyone would take it well. If your readers don’t agree with you, that’s a good thing. You generate a debate on your blog that generates interest and hooks you. It’s okay if you make a mistake. It’s worse to never take any risks and publish content that you can only agree with.
Publishing good content is not enough
There is a lot of talent in the blogosphere. Few of these bloggers get the attention they deserve because they don’t take into account some key factors such as the fact that blogs are no longer read, but scanned or that many posts don’t make a blog. Also, promoting a blog is at least as important as the content. You have to do both well to be successful.
Nobody said that being successful with a blog is easy. When you meet the goals you set for yourself, you will have great satisfaction. The effort is worth it.
